Lazy Way To Clean Your Oven
It has to be the most universally hated cleaning job and one we'll soon provide for you, but in the meantime, cleaning an oven can be a mucky time consuming job. Especially if you have been putting it off a while!
If your oven is in bad shape its going to take a while for the method we are about to reveal to work for you. If you're only a few weeks behind, well, this should work pretty quickly!
What You Need
You'll need a spray bottle of some sort, you can get these from "pound" shops, DIY places or maybe you have one already. Just a note of caution, if you are recycling one, make sure that the previous contents are thoroughly washed away. If you have any doubt about what was in it and if its safe to use, DONT use it! On top of the spray bottle, you'll need some Baking Soda and some water. Simple huh?
What To Do
Almost fill the spray bottle with water, leave some space for adding the soda. Now add teaspoon by teaspoon baking soda, shaking your spray bottle to dissolve the soda. You should get 6-8 spoons in there before you'll see that have a little residue in the bottom.
Make sure the oven is cool, remove anything you might have in the oven, sweep out any loose material at the bottom. You can leave your wire trays if you like. Then, taking care not to spray directly at an light fittings or in the fan vents, spray your baking soda solution over all the surfaces. Close the door. Go do something more interesting.
Spray this solution in your cooled oven after every use. Once a weekly sweep out the residue from the bottom of the oven. Then as frequently as you prefer, wipe down the sides, back, trays etc to remove any residues.
Dont Panic
You oven will turn white! Its the baking soda thats left behind after the water evaporates. No need to panic, its perfectly safe (its baking soda, you eat in cakes!). It is a little unsightly I'd agree, but it has to be the simplest, laziest way to clean an oven.
